i have read some posts from people who have put on new exaust systems and i believe after market air filters as well with no sert or pc3 installed no remap nothing, just throw on the pipes and roll,

how many here have done this method?

my grandfather did this to his fatboy and it runs like a raped ape.....some people have problems and some dont...hes got around 35000 miles on this setup...

 

Personally, I would not run Stage 1 on an EFI bike without some type of fuel management.&nbsp\\; Your subject line only indicates "Exhaust", however, your text&nbsp\\; throws in the A/C.&nbsp\\; That's where the rub comes in.&nbsp\\; So which is it, one or both?

 

I ran mine for 8 months on the pipes.&nbsp\\; But when i switched filters I got the remap!

sorry if it wasn't clear i meant both but it sounds like maybe if you just throw on some vance and hines big radius or something and leave the air cleaner alone you may be allright[8D]hell i don't know

 

I've mapped and tuned&nbsp\\;several bikes myself&nbsp\\;with the SERT and twin scan 88+ with WEGO sensors.&nbsp\\;You can get away basic&nbsp\\;with slip-on's but once you go to a full exhaust or certainly an&nbsp\\;intake, a tune is in order by somebody who know what they are doing. These bikes are tuned&nbsp\\;**VERY** lean just off idle, controlled&nbsp\\;to 14.6:1 ratio by&nbsp\\;the narrow band sensor during cruise up to 90 percent throttle. When you data log after an intake or pipe change, you would be suprised how far&nbsp\\;to the lean side&nbsp\\;things get.

 

When I added new mufflers and stage 2 big sucker I added a DFO for fuel management.

 

From what I understand the stock ECM will compensate and bring the fuel mixture back to factory specs, but this is ONLY on 07 and 08 bikes with O2 sensors.

Still too lean though.

 

&nbsp\\;I put on rineharts slip-ons and my bike ran fine , check the plugs at 500 miles a little lean. So I bought on Nightrider.com enrichment wires that plug in to your 02 sensor and WOW big difference for $70.00 plus $3.00 shipping werth it's wieght in gold. I think

 

Put Cycle Shack slipons on my 06 FXDBI and it runs great. It pops occasionally on decel. No air cleaner change.
