I use AMSOIL also and bike runs smoother to me and quieter in motor noise. I like it and sticking with it.

Search the forum for oil topics. You can use all kinds. There are even folks running ATF. As long as is doesn't contain friction modifiers, you will be OK. Can you get a hold of some Syn3?? Amsoil 20/50

Any good non-synthetic will be fine for your primary. I would try to get a 20/50, but in a pinch 10w/40 will work fine. Even a straight 30w would be okay in a pinch. 1qt.

I have run ATF in the primary before, and I would not suggest you do that. Great for the clutch... not so much for the chain.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like everyone agrees that using a synthetic is worth the money. As for the brand I think I will try the Amsoil and see how I like it. Thanks again!

I've been coming here for 4 years and in that time nobody has ever posted something saying they had a oil related parts failure when using any brand of oil that met the Harley specs. So it seems that as long as you use the right weight and specs of oil recommended you should be fine.

For the record I have Mobil 1 sync in the motor, Redline MTL in the primary and Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny.
