Powdercoat price?
I just got quoted 60 bux for my dash, derby cover and struts for gloss black. Is that a good price? Anyone have pics of these parts in black?

Awesome price! i would not do them that cheap... see if he has the *new* tiger coating High closs black... it looks great! I used that on all of skyriders parts and look how they BLING:) (that is not even in the sun) great powder!
- on your dash be sure to remove your rubber grommit going around it... take your time they tear pretty easy... when you re install it use gell super glue and it makes it super easy... - Could not find anyone wiht the chrome fender struts huh? http://i36.tinypic.com/2hdrx2d.jpg |
Great im just gonna have to take a look at his work before i give em the parts. Ya i wish i would of gotten those strut covers before its just when my wrist was broke i didnt feel like rippen aprt everything to get em off. Maybe ill wait on the struts...just incase someone wants to trade chrome for brushed......

I like the bike and am thinking of doing my FXR totally black like the one in the photo. Great job. |
DP if it is metal you can powder it... he is looking for the chrome like the 06's have because he wants the chrome... the brushed are actually a bit easier to coat as the HD chrome is a BIT*h to media blast sometimes... thanks sandhog... if you ahve any q's let me knwo... but i can only take credit for the powder coat... LUKE build one hell of a bike on that bob, from 200 rear to motor build! sick!

OK here goes a few and thanx in advance for your time in answering.
As of now I have no chrome on the engine except for the primary cover and tranny side cover. The whole evo is plain Jane on the outside. Will the powder coating work on the jugs and heads? I know the cases and other parts will coat ok.How does the engine respond when coating?Does it raise the temps any?Do the shops usually advise doing thier own prep work and what should be done before taking the parts in? |
I would never allow anyone to prep the work i coat... can not back it if someone else does it... hell ya you can do jugs, and heads... i would use a high temp on the jugs... basicly you can powder anything metal... it is all in the prep work... you relize full motor dissassembly needs to take place to do the jugs right? and find a good coater cause you dont want any of the crap on the insides
