HD 1/4 fairing on '06 & later Dyna
I get questions every couple of weeks about this and a few more lately after the SOA thing. Figured I'd post this as a reference.
I did this a couple of years ago when I first got the bike. Had the idea for a light touring and commuter bike.
The Quarter Fairing definitely helps with the wind blast and takes the wind off my chest. With just the fairing I would start getting wind on my shoulders. Adding the Laminar Lip brought it higher and cut down but not eliminated the wind to the face. For reference I am 6'3". Obviously this does little for heavy cross-winds.
The fairing is the HD color matched 1/4 fairing.

It is mounted by chopping and redrilling the brackets that come in the kit. By the way, the installation kit HD recommends has nothing in it for this application - I ended up not using it and returning it.
The brackets are mounted to the fork tubes using Kuryakyn brackets.

And later I added the Laminar Lip.

Picture from the front.
From the rider's view.
Here shows the spacers I had to add for the Mid-glide forks which and wider that the '05 and earlier 39mm forks this was designed for.
Here shows the side with the Kury clamps. To do again, I would have moved the bottom clamp up a little bit for more clearance on the fairing.
I really enjoy this setup and do not regret doing it. However, I still do get bugs and rain in my face. I'm sure this is not the only way of doing this. It's just the way I chose to do it with my skills and resourses at the time.
Hope this helps those who have asked,
Joe
