Default 06 Dyna FXD 200 Rear Tire without Fender / Swingarm Change

I contacted HogPro today about doing a 200 Tire on the rear of my 06 Dyna. They said "there are some modifications you can do to fit a 200 and still keep the stock swingarm/fender. Or you can go up to a 240 kit but that involves a swingarm/fender change." The guy that does their Dyna work is on vacation this week so I have to wait for the answer on how this is accomplished until next week! Now I'm curious!

Has anyone ever fit a 200 series tire on the rear of a late model Dyna without changing out the swingarm or fender? I did a search but came up dry. Anyone? Details? Thanks!

ooh ya alot of people have done it... your wiring needs to be redone, a spacer needs to be made... yoru pully (on the motor) has about 3 in of teeth so you can just move the belt over... you will have to make a spacer for the pully... i also would not put a 200 on a 4.5 rim (stock) my main ? is... why! for nothing you can run a 180... is it worth it for the extra 20mm? i have had my 180 next to my buddy wiht a 200 and no one could guess what one had the 200... to me that is not worth it...
my buddy luke did it (SKYRIDER) on here... came out well but he went with aftermarket wheels... you will have to either relace or replace your stock rear wheel... it is just not safe to put a 200 on a 4.5 rim

Joe!!! the stock rim is 4.5"

5.5" works good for a 200 tire.....

can you go to a 190 on the stock rim with the stock swing arm and fender?

can you get a 190 to support a cruiser? i know they come in sport bike tires but that would not hold up or last for CRAP on the cruiser... but it will fit... how safe... that i can not tell you

Here is an idea based on illusion which will give you the tire height you need and the wide tire appearance you want. The FXDSE2's factory rear tire is a 170/60R17 D407. This tire has a circumference of 25.48. The K591 Dunlop, common on most other Dynas is 25.80 in circumference. The radial will give far more mileage, much better ride and much better traction. Now, having said this I increased my rim width from 4.5 to 5.5 which made the D407 look like a 190 and filled out the fender far more than I thought it would. I have ran the Hellbender, Dragon, Cherohala and the Dome many times. Anyone who has travelled these roads knows that the curves through the mountains are very tight. The dealership warned me about the possibility of stepping off of the heal of the tire. Never happened, I would have had to drag my pipes and primary before I would have over stepped the heal of the tire. I still have 1/4 inch of chicken strip on both sides.

As far as using a radial on the rear and a bias on the front...check out the Rocker and the Crossbones. They come from the factory with mixed tire types.

One last thing, a mag centers the tire better than a spoke wheel unless you are going to have HDWheels make the new rear wheel. I did, very expensive too.

Default 190

I have a Michelin 190 on the back of my bike. It is a radial and I have scraped the primary with that tire on the bike...It handles great. I'm getting ready to replace it at about 7K miles, but I'm hard on tires. I had to have the pulley milled down as well as the left side spacer and cut a groove in the brake caliper for the valve stem to clear. I didn't cut it deep enough the first time and snapped the valve stem off. Not that hard a job to do though. BTW, I have a HD custom smoothy wheel on the back.
