Default Keeping A/C From Getting Wet

I have the original football cover on my Stage 1 A/C, how do I keep it from getting wet while washing? Especially those of you that have it exposed. Is it okay to get it wet a little?

I'm sure there's a better answer out there, but I just usually take my time and enjoy the whole washing experience. I take it easy and carefully direct the water spray as to not get everything wet. Yes, this takes a lot more time than recklessly spraying the whole bike down, but that's alright with me.

IMHO these filters are a lot tougher then you think. Ever got caught in the rain on your bike or fog? You can bet your filter cover is allowing water to get under it. Also, many of these filters are washable and even have instructions on washing. While I would'nt direct a spray of water right on the filter, I don't think getting inadvertingly sprayed while washing if going to hurt.

Do the cheap thing, a large piece of plastic wrap over the air filter, as good as anything else. it won't hurt it to be wet, but water is one thing, soap is another, so better to cover it just in case.

Wide open exposed Element here, and while I have been caught in a good rain or two with no concequences....
I always tuck a plastic shopping bag over it while washing, then use a damp cloth to clean the "Face" of the filter once bag is removed.

Just a Thought.........

Budds, does that wide open exposed element have any drawbacks for you? That's the setup I'm looking for to go with my Big Radius and PCIII? Maybe with one of the A/C covers from azece.com.
