Trailering Tips???
I have to take my new FXDC from Missouri to New Mexico. I have purchased a 5 x 10 enclosed trailer to haul it and use as a "garage" while there. I'm RVing while working out there.
I installed the front wheel chock and tie downs where the dealer said to put them. He also said to wrap a towell around the fork cross member and connect the straps around the towell to protect the finish. The trailer tie down eyes on the floor are a little forward of the front axle and 2 feet out to the sides. So with the wheel in the chock he said to pull the forks down about an inch and a half with even tension on both straps. He said no need to tie down the back of the bike.
Any comments on this or additional advice or precautions I should take?
Thanks,

Thanks,
In a trailer, I strap the back down as well.
I also strap the wheel to the chock
And double strap everything.
I pull over after about the first fifty miles and have a look.
Overkill.

I put a bike pro chock in my trailer. Works nice since you don't need two people to tie down the bike. I always tie down the rear of the bike. And if I can shake the trailer more that the while rocking on the handlebars then it's tight enough. But always double check it when you stop for gas.
