Default Time to get educated

I recently bought a 09 Street Bob and want to do some customizing after seeing so many awesome bikes here. My issue is that I don't have much experience working on Harleys but I really want to do most of the work myself. Is there anything that you guys can recommend that would be useful so I don't mess anything up too bad when I start wrenching away?

Get a shop manual and use the search on this forum for any mods you plan on doing.

Do not scrimp when you buy your torx bit set, nor your hex head set. It's really not a good idea to scrimp on any tool, but those are imperative for your bike.

Have a digital camera and take photos of stuff before taking it apart so you have something to show you how it goes back together.

Keep stuff clean.

Lubicate nuts and bolts before torquing. With out good lubrication, torque value is rather meaningless as it relates to clamping force.

Pay attention to what you are doing. It's easy to forget things. Check and recheck everything. Your life depends on it.

I'm having trouble finding a place selling the 2009 Street Bob manual. Any suggestions? Also any third party printers?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I will be picking up a manual from my local dealer and then running by sears to get a bike lift and some craftsman tools. Now I just need to the funds for everything I'm thinking of!
