I have a Road6customs side plate from ebay. 20 bucks shipped to the house. I don't know what you have, but here's what I did. I attached mine to the belt guard and some have put it on the axle and the lower shock bolt.

Make sure you get a nice thick washer to cover the hole because the Belt Guard bolt is a smaller diameter. I took the mount and the bolt to the hardware store to find the right fit. You can see what I'm talking about in the first pic. The hole on the mount fits right over the rubber grommet on the belt guard for a flush fit. The way the belt guard is shaped it only touches at the mounting point. I only put about 100 miles with the plate there with the weather not letting up and all. I here you also need to drill out the mounting hole a little to put it on our axles anyways. It was so much easier on the belt guard.
Would recommend AGAINST attaching to the belt guard.
Swingarm, nylon washer, licence plate bracket, washer then bolt. Use a torque wrench and tighten to factory specs and DON"T FORGET the lock-tite (the blue should do)whatever you do!!!
