To be totally honest, the nightrod fairing does absolutely nothing for wind deflection. It's strictly for aesthetic purposes. Just plain cool lookin!

Thanks for the write up. It is appreciated and inspires me to do some changes to my bike. This is some thing that I could definitely do myself.

I seem to remember someone saying that the ness fairing isn't much better.

Man the nightrod fairing just looks mean on that dyna.

Dammit, why did my curiousity get the better of me and make me open this thread? I have been thinking of getting a chin spoiler and I think the fairing would compliment that setup as well. Starting to make me want to put my old headlight back on and go for it.

My question is, does anyone have a price on this fairing and does it come black or can it be bought in color-matched paint?

Saint, what is the fairing in your Sig? Is that the Ness Fairing.

IceCap has a nice fairing setup, rather did, on his dyna. It's the HD 1/4 fairing used on Sportsters.

You can get in primer for about $100 from chicago HD or Zanotti's. It's also available in color matched...but you'll pay a lot more for it and wait a couple of months also. Your best bet is to get the primered one and have a local painter shoot it for you. Save some money!

Perfect write up, awesome pics. Does it mount the same on an '03 with the top mount headlight???? Maybe just cut the mounting cup???? I'm planning on putting that HD visor on my SG even though it says it's for the wide glides. The dyna/sportster one isn't as cool IMHO.
