Street Bob Newb Qs - don't spank me too hard!

Just got a used 07 Street Bob and have a few Qs since I'm an HD newb:

1. Bike was titled in June 2007. Do I still have warranty left?

2. Front tire is a D401 and rear is K591. Is this normal?

3. The silver metal ring around the ignition switch labeled "Off", "Acc", etc. spins freely so it sometimes does not line up with the actual key positions. I can spin it back in place so it lines up but it won't stay after I've used the key a few times. Is this normal?

4. Came with highway pegs. I am short and can barely reach them. What size allen key are the bolts? They are bigger than anything in my $270 Craftsman tool box. Once I remove them, what do I fill the empty holes in the frame with? The same bolts or something else?

5. What size Torx are the passenger peg bolts?

6. Going to remove the passenger seat. What will fill the hole left on the fender?

7. Along those lines, how do I lift the rider's seat?

8. On top of the tranny case there is a short rubber hose connected to nothing. Is this normal?

9. Behind the battery is a plug not connected to anything. What is this for?

10. Want to replace the derby cover (mine is dicked up - looks like a driveway drop). Is this easy to do?

11. Tail light lens is broke. Can I replace just the lens or do I have to replace the entire assembly?

12. What's the best license mount mod? It looks absolutely retarded stock.

13. Not a big fan of spoked wheels. Would like to go the cheap route and trade someone for 2006+ Super Glide cast wheels. Will this work? Will my brake disc and caliper work?

14. On that note, if I want bigger wheels/tires, what sizes will fit?

These Qs may sound dumb but I have almost No knowledge of the HD world. Check my prior rides. This is all new to me!

I ordered the owners, parts, and service manual and am waiting on those. Any and all help in the meantime would be awesome. Thanks.

I wouldn't know where to begin to explain the answers you seek. ( there is so many that comon sense would answer if it was me) I will let the rest take a stab at it.

Congrats on your new ride and hope you get it fixed the way you want it.

I will do a few and leave some for others :D

1. Bike was titled in June 2007. Do I still have warranty left? - Yes till June

6. Going to remove the passenger seat. What will fill the hole left on the fender? - You can get a little plastic piece that Harley uses on bikes that come with a solo or some make a bolt with a dice or something on it.

8. On top of the tranny case there is a short rubber hose connected to nothing. Is this normal? - Yes

9. Behind the battery is a plug not connected to anything. What is this for? - Battery tender or accesories

10. Want to replace the derby cover (mine is dicked up - looks like a driveway drop). Is this easy to do? - Just remove bolts replace gasket and put new cover on, need to put bolts back in sequence.

11. Tail light lens is broke. Can I replace just the lens or do I have to replace the entire assembly? - Not sure but if spending money I would suggest a Kury Low profile taillight for $100, they look much better IMO

I ordered the owners, parts, and service manual and am waiting on those. Any and all help in the meantime would be awesome. Thanks. - Good purchase they come in handy

1. About one month, if the original warranty transfers.

2. What brand?

3. No

4. Mine are torx (forward controls), but there are plastic plugs made for this.

5. T-45

6. Permanent or temporary?

7. Remove screw, lift seat rear, slide straight back 2", lift straight up.

8. It's a vent.

9. Lot's of plugs back there.... kinda hard to tell with no pics.

10. Yes, 5 bolts, new cover and gasket.

11. Yes, just the lens.

12. The one that looks best to you.

13.Yes. Many other people do the same thing.

14. Rear-HD makes a 200 kit. Front - look at a fatbob. ~120 ??

If you are going to remove the highway pegs, how much do you want for them? I'm very interested!!!!

I know I'm a retard about this, please bear with me.

1. Does the factory warranty transfer ownership upon sale?
2. Dunlop
3. Should I have the dealer look at my ignition switch?
4. HD brand highway pegs
6. Permanent. Guess I could buy the stock plastic plug.
8. That's what I figured.
9. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

You guys are great with the answers. Tons of helpful people on here. The whole ignition switch has me worried. Did some research here and it seems the switch sucks anyway. My key was wicked hard to turn. I put some WD40 in there and it helped the key, but then I noticed the metal piece with the labels spinning. And it's heavily scratched up. I think the previous user just abused it a little.

You dont want to use WD-40 for that it will just make it worse later.

1. I think the 2-yr factory warranty does transfer. Call dealer to confirm.
2. That's the stock tires that came on the bike.
3. You could re-mount the ignition switch up on the tank console like a FXDC. Lots of streetbobbers have done that. If it's that messed up, might be a good idea.
4. Mine are torx not allen. Not sure.
6. Either a stock plastic plug, or some other creative thing. ;)

There should be two plugs behind the battery. One is a four pin and is used for accessories, the other is a single wire and it is a battery feed. At least that is the way the 06 is set up.

You should still have warranty so if it were me I would let the dealer take care of the switch issue.
