don't sweat the test. In case somebody already hasn't mentioned this :

be prepared for the difference. I almost dropped my bikes 3 times at 0mph because I was at an angle and not paying attention.

Eh, I think a HD is still a lot safer then getting a sport bike as a first bike.

New license and a busa or a GXR might as well buy the body bag at the same time...

i took my lessons with On The Road Motorcycle School. They have a website
www.lrn2ride.com. I took the test in Riverhead and it was a total of 5 minutes. Hopefully you won't get stuck in a downpour like we did. But good luck to you and ride safe!

Where do you live btw?

I love the big Harley part, I only road dirt bike and 1 fzr 600 on a permit for a year than go 11 yrs without riding anything... I buy a roadking 2008 brand new on my permit than 2 days later I take the Nh Dmv Bike test on it 1 day of practice on the course ( painted on the ground ) day of test their are 13 enduros there , 4 sportsters, 3 gsxr's, 1 victory 1 vmax and my Roadking...
i was 3rd in line before was the Victory bike and he didn't pass which had me worried ( if i didn't pass I had to push or trailer it home )
well needless to say I did the 1st half of the course like I have been riding my whole life and then the dreaded cone weave , which I managed to pull off with some help from above the ama instructor stops the course and say this gentleman on the roadking just raised the bar on you that is how this course is done.. congrats and handed me a slip of paper to get my class m woohoo 3 rd happiest day of my life

I never said anything about sportbikes. Actually Im a big fan of the old standards (cb500,550,750) or the older cruisers like the vlx600, kawasaki vulcan 450,yamaha, etc. Not fast bikes but good to learn on and if you drop it no big deal. Drop your BRAND new harley and you'll understand what Im talking about.

SC test is pretty tough. I passed it about 2 weeks ago on my FXDC. I was riding on a permit til then. Funny thing is, I found out yesterday, that I went to one of the tougher places to take the test. They didn't have enough room for the new test. If anyone is planning to do this, you may want to check around and see if there are different tests at different locations.
