Front End Change- 04 Dyna Super Glide
I just picked up an 04 super glide this weekend and when parked next to my brothers softail standard, it looks more like a sportster than a big bike. The major issue is the front end and tire. I have a few questions. Will a HD wide glide front end bolt on without any mods? If not, can anyone recommend a good front replacement with cost being the main concern? Is $2,000 (parts and labor) a reasonable price for the swap?

the only way you should have $2000 in a front end swap is if you spend $1500 on custom wheels and tires...i have an 01 fxdx and am doing a fat boy front end with 18" fat spoke wheels(wheels alone 980) but the front end is only costing me, minus wheels about 550. if you cant find it here...EBAY!!!

The 28 degree front end will perform better than the 32 degree front end but I think that's what you're seeing. A raked triple tree is an option but I wouldn't go too extreme. You have to watch changing the rake and trail of a bike...$2000 is in the ballpark though if you keep the same wheels. I'd go for a new front end and lose that eye lid over the head lamp...a new custom headlamp in a chrome raked triple tree will change the whole look of the bike. Maybe go with a nice new set of wire wheels...

I got a Gothic kit from Accutronix, you use your fender, front wheel, tubes, sliders and head light.... you can get a bottom mount headlight tree if you wanna change the hood that's on there now. The Accutronix kit cost a little more but worth the money good stuff!!
Here's a few pics, best I have right now... if you want I can take better pics later..

On my 02 superglide, I did a complete wide glide conversion. Front end, tank, rear end.
My front end has 2007 Wide Glide trees, 2008 Street bob forks (49mm), 2008 WG 21" wheel, and a 2007 WG fender. When all was said and done, my rake went from 28 to 32 degrees and I find it to actually be more stable than before and better looking. The front end cost me about $800 with deals off ebay and other forum members. I then sold my complete narrow front end on ebay for almost $500. Net cost was about $300 for a complete WG front end swap. And everything bolted right up with no mods.
So $2,000 is a lot unless you're doing some really fancy **** or getting brand new parts from the dealer. I have much less than that in my front end, tank, and rear end put together (once I sold all the take offs).
