The more I hear about it, the less I give a crap... At first I hated it, simply because it doesnt "look" like a WG. But, things change, and that is what a WG looks like now. I like mine better, but of course I do...ITS MINE!
If I didnt have my 06 WG, and was in the market for a new bike...I dont think I would buy the "new" WG. I kind of like the FB lo, but I have seen neither in person....and I am not in the market...so it dont really matter does it! Any bike I do buy would be in addition to the 06....been eye ballin' Road Glides lately...
The new WG is BAD AZZ. I went down to the local dealer for a part and they just happened to have two of the 2010s sitting front and center in the showroom. The pics on the HD website don't do it justice! While granted, some of the timeless key features of the wide glide are gone... it's still an awesome bike. I have always had a mental picture of what I wanted my superglide to look like when I'm all done modding it and the new WG is that vision. Headed to FL for a week for a little R&R but when I get back I'm goin bike shopping.
Just got back from Milwaukee on Monday. Did the Museum tour, personal factory tour, had breakfast with Willie G. & his wife, and son Bill Davidson, and Tony "Nick" from corporate accessories division, they seem like competent folks.... darn sure they named it correctly.
I've owned a wide glide (FXDWG3) and if they say THIS is a Wide Glide, I have no doubts. If any one disagrees with what you name YOUR child, ignore them.

My understanding was that the original concept of the WG was to be Harley Davidson's "factory chopper"....what was the motivation behind turning a complete 180° and turning the "image" of the bike from the factory "chopper" to the blacked out factory "bobber" ESPECIALLY when they already have two "bobs" in the dyna line.
Anyone who rides a HD must realize that image is a big part of owning a specific bike. Particularly with HD's. I never once said I didn't LIKE the new WG, just said it doesn't say Wide Glide to me as the entire image of it has been changed...to me it is akin to taking a sports car and reintroducing it as a 4 door sedan but under the same name. Sure, it may be an appealing car but does it elicit the same emotions that the original concept did?
Motives....obviously money.....blacked out is "in" right now....bobbers are "in" right now....not to mention there are alot of people who are hurting financially and it has been "cheapened".... so my feeling is that the moco is trying to appeal to a different (maybe younger) crowd by producing 3 blacked out, bobber style dynas.
And for the record...I don't think anyone is questioning their "competence", most that don't agree are questioning their "motives".
For the record.... anyone saying the 2010 WG is NOT a WG is in so many words putting the "competency" of the labeling department in check. I say it's their baby, they name it, and anyone who discredits HD's labeling department is either joking, or opposed to styling points. They are still looking at a Wide Glide.... all "motives" aside
