New Inna Da Box......
The Sportster is gone... and I'll really miss it..
But I got a new toy that was literally still in the box at 10am this morning.
2009 Super Glide Custom being assembled at Santa Fe Harley after it was uncrated.
And parked in the drive..
I'm convinced that with Harley's production cutbacks, I'd have been lucky to get that
two-tone maroon and red 2010 that I wanted since it was going to be a "special" paint
scheme only manufactured between October and December and even then on only a
handful of bikes. So I went for a very deeply discounted 2009 and got full MSRP on the
trade so the upgrade to the FDXC only ran $2k plus tax and shipping.
No fuss, no bother, I just had to wait a couple hours for it to be assembled. I'll be adding
forward controls, windscreen, sissybar with rack and probably a new seat as well. I
really don’t like black so it will also get repainted at some point this winter, probably in
a dark burgundy or “wine red”.
After riding it home it now has about 70 miles on it and while it’s still in the For-God’s-
Sake-Sake-It-Easy break-in period, it’s very apparent that the transmission is much
smoother, the gearing much better and the ride far superior to my lamented Sportster
and the extra 80 pounds is undetectable.
It gonna be fun….
Guess I gotta change my sig...
