250 mile review: Pulley, clutch spring, bearing

well even with my spill i have been putting on miles almost nightly on the scoot... crap this bike is like a whole new bike! the barnett clutch spring is tough to pull in, but i am a MAN so i dont care :) only problems it gave me was in stop and go traffic... Chad stated that i could get a diffrent ramp for it to ease it up a bit, but after riding with it i really have begun to like how stiff the lever is. MAN does the clutch grab up now! unreal difference!

the Pulley just ROCKS! for real, i can hole shot now like no other, i was out riding with a bunch of rocket buddies last night and even they said how weird it was to have me next to them when we launch... well through first at least :D
On the highway i am at 2200 RPM in 6th gear at 75 mph... i can just pull now in 6th... hell all my gears have much more of a jump to them... the bike is a bit more comfortable cruising now in a lower RPM, my sweet spot used to be right around 2500, but now 2000 is just as nice...
when smacking though my gears she will chirp through 3rd now...
all in all, i would 100% recomend this to anyone. thanks Don, Tweek, and Redrucicon for all your help as i went though this...
Chad thanks for laughing with me when everything was going wrong! ha ha ha

just wnated to give you guys an update, the primary is nice and smooth and no more noise now... baker bearing appears to be doing its job!

"On the highway i am at 2200 RPM in 6th gear at 75 mph"

WOW....am I missing something? I had the pulley installed and my tach reads 2900RPM in 6th gear at 80mph, guess I need to check my RPM's @75mph but I still think it is higher than 2200RPMs. Is that your actual tach reading or have you had it recalibrated?

At what RPMs are you shifting through the gears now?

Thanks.
Mat

my speedo reads 3mph higher though so i guess i am actually at 72 mph. but it is right between 2200 and 2300 for sure... nope i have not recalibrated anything, do not think i need to... seems to be dead on. i do not run my tach through my tuner it is tapped in. i have not really checked what i am shiftin at, i do it by feel and sound more than anything, when i am slamming thought them i usually dump around 5200 in first 5500 in second... 3rd is a bit higher, it drops me right into the next gears power band

I thought going to a 30T pulley would raise rpms a bit over the stock gearing?

Sick man! I need to get this done. I think I'm going to order the Baker IPB and pulley next week and just do it.

You have a link for the pulley?

Couple more questions..

1) Was the Baker IPB just a direct bolt in with no modifications needed or what?
2) You didn't have to retune/adjust the fuel map when you put the pulley in, did you?
3) Did you use the stock belt with the pulley you put in?

I might have to shoot you a PM to see what specialty tools are required to do the job.

SBrob i thought the same thing... but what my tach is showing is not lining up with that.

i got all my stuff from here, the guy at Axiom cycles is a cool cat... good guy to work with. If you talk to him tell him joe from lite em up says whats up!

http://www.axiomcycles.com/pages/ite...temsection=129
Pulley number - drag# 1201-0227
Cluch spring - drag# DS-199218

the bearing popped right in direct replacement.
i used the stock belt, my cam chain tensioner was in GREAT shape so i kept that... i had to adjsut my belt tension and line up the rear tire again... the specialty tools are where it is at...
without those, i could not IMAGINE doing this job.
I used a georges garage pulley socket and container ring, as well as the pully lock deal. to remove the clutch and timing chain i just tossed a piece of 1x2 in there and broke the nuts loose

+1 are we missing something Joe? With what you've reported I would assume you went with a 34 tooth not a 30 tooth.

i will check the RPM's again today... just to make sure... i know it rips off the line like i have never felt before. i am also sure i have a 30T in there... ill do a RECHECK when i get home
