Default shifter peg removal

I got some knew pegs for an early Xmas present. I got eveything on, but the shifter peg. Is there any trick to gettingthe stockshifter pegoff? Seems like the only way is to use vice grips. Any help is greatly appreciated. Have a great Xmas.

Vice Grips work quite well. You might want to apply a little heat to the back side of the shifter arm where the peg is screwed into if it's stubborn. It's not unheard of for the peg stud to snap off if it's really tight and you don't use heat.

I ended up cutting all the rubber off of my old one with an x-acto knife, and using vise grips to get it off.

Vice grips. Don't expect to salvage the rubber.

And don't forget to use a little loctite on the new one or you might be replacing it twice. Don't ask how I know.[:@]

Good Luck

Thanks for the help. Used some heat on the screw and vice grips and got the shifter peg off. The new pegs look great. I am working on getting some pics of the bike.

Be sure to use loctite! I was coming home from work around midnight when i went to downshift and found that the shifter peg was gone...had to **** my foot at an angle and shift with the shifter arm the rest of the way home.
