Forks won't lock

Am I just retarded or what? The thing will push in and turn to a few millimeters of being locked but won't turn the whole way. The wheel is cranked as far left as it'll go. I'm not sure what else could cause it not to engage.

You might have to turn it a bit back to the right while turning the key to lock the forks.

i hardley ever lock mine but that is what you have to do with mine give the bars a little rock as you turn the key and it lines right up and locks.

have you tried a spare key? just with the ign being cycled the metal wears down on the key so it could not be making complete contact with a few of the tumblers in the ign...
or have you tried moving the handle bars while trying to turn the ign in the lock position? maybe theres a sweet spot not exactly with the handle bars all the way to the left.

well that answers that, I am retarded :o
Yall were right about having to turn the wheel just a bit. I had tried that before but I guess not far enough.
Thanks

I know, just had too!! I had the same problem and almost broke my key cause I was getting mad. Then pushed the back of my tire with my knee turning it to the right a hair and it turned easy as hell, and I was like jack pot!! Also you may need to oil in a few months!!

not my first bike and it took me a good 5 minutes to figure mine out as well, i kept trying and think "what the hell, did they give me the right key?" then i grabbed the bars and tried what they said and found the spot, you have to grab the bar and jiggle the front end to unlock as well, or at least its easier.

Don't feel retarded. The sweet spot is difficult to find, especially working with limited visibility and low light. The first time, a lot of guys will just hit the rim without proper penetration. The more you do it, the easier it will get.

Be forewarned, may have similar experiences when drinking too.
