Bringing forward controls closer on FXDL
I have a '14 FXDL with forward controls which the previous owner installed. I'm wondering if anyone has ever brought forwards in a little closer. Harley sells a Reduced Reach forward control kit for some Dynas, but I think it's only for bikes that come from the factory with forwards. i don't see one for mine.

how much closer are you thinking? I think the Harley site is only going to list bikes that came from the factory with forwards but the kit would probably still work for your bike, but I have never done it. The further forward mids that are factory along with highway pegs mounted in the forward control spots are just right for me.

I did the reduced forward controls on my wide glide and I like the results. It reduces about an inch. At 6ft tall it puts a good bend in the knee. Now at high speeds the feet stay planted. I would think it would work on your bike. It’s just brackets and shorter rear brake arm but research first.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I really got into this last night after I posted here. First, an inch doesn't sound like much, but heck if I can bring them an inch closer that would help a lot. A while back I got some foot pegs that have heel supports, which helped some, but there's still a sensation at highway speed that my feet want to blow off the pegs.
I pulled up the Harley Forward Controls install guide alongside with the Reduced Reach Forward Controls guide, and went through them part by part. To my surprise, there are only 4 parts that are different between the 2 kits. The additional parts are in the Reduced Reach kit, so I thought great, I'll just buy those. Unfortunately those 4 parts are listed as "not sold separately." OK, heart sinks again.
Then I stumbled upon the "Reduced Reach Forward Controls Conversion Kit (50700005)." This kit is designed to bring the forward controls closer to the rider. Yes! But my bike isn't listed in the Fitment section. Crap! And then I realized...it's because they only list bikes that came with factory forwards. I pulled up the kit, and voila - it has the exact 4 parts I was looking for. I discovered this around midnight, and was so amped up about it I couldn't fall asleep, LOL. Kit is ordered!
I am sooooo looking forward to this! And it's a very simple install too.
