Slip-on's Question

If I throw a set of V&H Slipons on my FXD, no re-map is required right?

Right. Now get ready for a zillion other views on this subject:D
I know it's o.k. cause I did it myself. You'll need a remap if you change the intake side.

Late model bikes, no re-map, the ECU will self tune to it. I've also done this without issue except for mild decel pop. I used an XiED to reduce engine heat.

Add a free flow air filter on a well running bike, you won't have to re-map. You may find you want to because, although the ECU will self tune closed loop close enough, it may miss the open loop A/F targets enough to make a noticeable throttle response and WOT performance impact. Its not a safety/durability issue, however.

A factory download (re-map) will fix this back to the de-tuned factory settings. If you are going to spend that kind of money, think about investing in a fueler, tuner, or tuning kit instead.

It's an 09 FXD, that will recalibrate?

I was contemplating the whole ball of Wax, V&H Pipes, PC V, AC but just suffered a financial setback, shit happens...

I just don't want to get sold a bill of goods when I go to get the Slipon's..

Thanks,

JV

08 and newer bikes certainly, anything with a working O2 sensor probably. Throw a set of pipes on and go out and enjoy your ride without any anxiety. There may be a salesman try to tell you different, but thousands of riders throw slip-ons onto a well running bike without any issue short of attracting the constables and minor decel pop (not all bikes but most and it doesn't hurt anything). If she runs a little hot for you, get yourself a used set of XiEDs for about $50 and enjoy the ride even more.

when i put the rush slipons on the bike i rode it for a week or so before evry joe dick i knew told me i should get it remapped. i didn't really want to cause the total cost was like 400. i did it though. do you have the stage 2 on the bike already cause if you do it won't cost that much.

I did the same with my Rush w/2" baff. total a waste of $350.00. (the remap)I sold the Rush pipes on E-Bay, bought a set of Big City Thunder Baffles inserted them into the useless SE slip-ons the the dealer had the balls to talk me into at the time of purchase. The end result a nice sounding BEEP RICH sound. sorry just venting.
