Default what if you change your mind?

I swapped seats after a lengthy ride recently - took off my LePera solo and Motherwell rack (which was sprayed with truck-bed liner) and put my full length LePera Silhouette Deluxe seat back on.

Now I'm thinking that for short/around town rides, I'd like the solo seat and rack back on, but wish the rack was still chrome. Well, since I didn't scuff/sand/prep the rack, I'm soaking it in a pan of lacquer thinner and it's looking like it will turn out good...

I REALLY like the look of that!

I like semi-gloss or flat black Dupont high-heat engine paint for painting chrome, the guys are totally correct though, the better you scuff it up the better the paint will stick.

I painted my horn cover with VHT crinkle black last night, it says it takes 48 hours to dry, sprayed on really nice and even, I'll let you know how it worked. $13.00 a can, ouch!

You're asking this question of a nine year old post.

But in terms of an answer... I think taking your outer primary to a powder coater would be way less work (and better result), than prepping the chrome for paint and spraying it properly.

I tend to agree, I did a check on some of the last replies and they haven't been around here since 2010 or 2011 and the OP hasn't been here since 2016 so doubt that they'd respond but who knows, stranger things have happened here.
