Default Q: What is Red Key Symbol on My 2006 Speedometer

The former owner is still looking for thge owner's manual, so I am asking questions that are probably elementary. My last Harley was an '81 Superglide, so I am unfamiliar with lots of the new stuff on my bike.
Q1: What is the red key symbol (just below 120 mph) on my speedometer.
Q2: There is also a rubber coated something on the left side of the control console. What's it for?
Thanks,
Bob Nisbet

The key symbol is for the security system. The rubber button is for resetting the odometer.

Question 1 : The little Red key symbol come's on and off when arming or disarming your factory installed alarm system you should have a key fob for the alarm . Press once to alarm and twice to disarm when your alarm is on it the Red key should be flashing , also your blinkers will flash when pressing the fob once for alarm and twice when your disarmed , also when you press the the run button you should also see a little yellow engine symbol this is the computer checking your system wait for all the lights to go out before you press the start button .

Question 2 : That's your trip reset button , press it once to see it press it again and hold to clear it , there are 2 trips A and B , press it a couple of times and you will see what i mean

I do not have the factory security system, but twice I've had the red key light come on. Both times it was do to a short in the turn signal wires where they had come loose and runbbed the tire, so I guess the sigs are on the same ciruit the securty system would be on. Something to keep in mind if you ever have the light come on and don't know why.

Red security light will come on and stay on indicating your bike has thrown a diagnostic code. Doesn't matter if you have an alarm or not

The red key sign is the alarm status indicator, and the rubber piece does reset your trip takers, alternately you can use it while the bike is off to view your mileage or your clock. the rubber piece is also used while viewing engine codes.
