Default misfire after wash??

Ok so i washed my 2010 fxdb yesterday let it sit for about a half an hour, left to go for a ride with my buddy and the bike started misfiring, stuttering under cruising load and backfiring on decel. I know there are some threads on this i searched for them but never found a solution or what got wet that caused it. I have a s/e heavy breathed that had the sock on and i stayed away from that. It took about 50 miles of riding for it to clear up. Rides great now. Just wondering if anyone knows what i got wet to cause this. Thanks in advance!!

First of all I would never wash my bike with a hose or anything like it. I just wipe it down with damp/ wet microfiber towel. Sounds like you got something electrical wet, a connection or something that shorted out until it dried out. I would stay away from the water washing if it was me.

Yea i wasn't using a pressure washer or anything. I live in florida and have been caught in some serious rain on a regular basis and haven't had any problems. Im guessing something electrical got wet or i got some water in the intake. I've washed the bike several times this same way with no issues.

i use a hose to wash the bike it will be fine. sometimes the bike is too dirty for spray and microfiber will ruin the paint and scratch the **** out of it! as long as you are not hitting it with direct spray you are fine! i would say just some moisture in there bud, let it dry out should be fine

I had a similar experience in the rain the other day! got caught in a huge down pour and the bike was running fine. Then we stopped and took shelter. It continued to rain on the bikes for another 10 minutes or so and then it stopped. I started my bike and it was only running on the rear cylinder. Front cylinder totally dead. I was only about 2 km from home so i said fack it, im going home. Front cylinder dident come alive at all on the way home. When I got home I shut the bike down in the garage. Started it up 2 minutes later and all was fine. Its been fine ever since. I have PCV installed and was wondering if that was the problem. I put dielectric grease on the connector, but as soon as I get a chance Im gonna stog her full.

StreetBob...next time you wash your bike, check the pcV/ecm connection for water.

If you haven't ...Add some dilithium grease to the PC V connector . It's wirth it's weight in Gold when it keeps water out of the connectors .
