Fat tire kit on low rider?

yes the newer models can take 180 no probs.
i would say you would need to change guard, swingarm, struts, offset pully or chain, etc etc to go over 200. I have seen kits for all this but can't remember where.
there are plenty of guys running duece rear wheel which is 160 on your model bike, there is not much room to spare, suprising how wide they look under a standard guard.

The best thing you can do is lift the bike and see how much room you have.My 05 is7 3/4" wide inside the fender (not counting the mounting bolts)You got to allow at least 1/4"on each side for bolts and another 1/4" for clearance=a tire 6 3/4" wide!If your fender is not 7 3/4" wide you need a lot of $$$$$ to get there!

I have a 180 on my 97 wide glide. It was a real straight forward job. I cut the struts and put on a set of custom solid steel units. Put them at the proper spacing and welded them up. Im running a 5.5x18 rim and a metzeler 180/18 tire. I converted to chain drive to get the clearance. I guess it all depends on how much experience you have, im a certified welder so to me it was nothing, little fabrication work..no big deal. I have done two friends bikes the same way. Total cost including wheel, tire, trans sprocket, chain, spacers, etc was right about a grand. Look at my sig pic to see the completed bike.

I work at a machine shop and I have decent welding skills but my uncle is a professional welder and I have built many race cars. Although I wouldn't feel comfortable cutting on my bike I would rather just buy a kit and have found some but was trying to see other ways of doing it. I would be happy with a 180 tire, but I have a 150 on it now and doubt I could get a 180 on it. 160 would prolly be the biggest I could go.

I would have liked to go with a 180, but the largest tire I could shoe horn in was a 150 Avon Venom.
There are a couple of wide tire kits I read about. One is from a company called DM Customs. Can't recall the name of the other. Since I didn't go with a conversion kit I can't comment on the quality.
