Default What tools do I need to swap rocker boxes.

Any one know the tools I will need to swapmy rocker box covers and housings out? I always get started and end up needing one special tool or there's always a tool that would make it easier, just looking to have it all ready before I start so I can get it done in a night. Also any tips/tricks would be appreciated. And yes I have a service manual.

If you are not pulling the tank, ratchet type box wrenches are very handy.

I've never had luck with dogbones. They are usually too fat. Just disco the *** end of the tank, flip it up....you can get to the right side very easily with a ratchet and socket....the left side...not so much. I usually end up using a closed end wrench. That's the uppers.

Pull the breather (2 bolts), pop the pushrod covers and rotate the engine till that cylinders pushrods spin. Then pop off your rockers. Then you're to the lower.

Don't forget the breather gasket...lower box to head gasket...upper to lower box gaskets. That's all you should need.

If you want pictures, I have tons.

You know you're only a few bolts away from a .030 head gasket for a .25:1 compression bump and better quench.

When I changed mine I pulled the tank which was very simple to do. I used a 1/2'" drive socket set and torque wrench. There were one or two bolts on the left that a socket would not fit because of the frame (08 SB) so I used a ratcheting box wrench. Whole job was under an hour. If you do remove the tank remember hose clamps for the cross over line.

Any idea what size o rings I'll need? And I only have 5000 miles on it if that makes a difference
