Don't use the dyna pillion on your Street Bob.

So I bought a 2011 black denim street bob 3 weeks ago. When I bought it is got the pegs and pillion for it right at the dealership. These are factory HD parts. I had the seat of until yesterday when I was going for a putt w/o the wife and I saw that the pillion had scratched the fender right to the bare steel. Upon closer inspection I saw it was the staples from where they attach the leather underneath had been the culprits. Now I brought the bike to HD today and asked them if this was a warranty issue. I haven't heard back yet, but I was wondering what everyone else thinks. I look at it like this. If I had bought and after market seat than I would not be complaining, but I bought the factory HD stuff and that is what caused it. Therefor they should cover it. Right? Or am I off my rocker. Oh let me say that my wife is 118 lbs.

Thanks Jay

I would say they should be liable. Now if your wife was a porker in the 140+ range then I would say you are liable. LOL

No one said anything and there was nothing in the HD instructions either. I am going to be really pissed if they don't do something for me. Thanks for the info.

there are rubber bump stops that go ont here, i swapped mine with felt

Even with the 4 rubber bumpers that were fitted as stock on my Fat Bob, I still find the Sundowner seat I use with the misses still slight marks the fender at the back where the padding rests against it.

I'm going to get a solo seat at some point. What do folks do with the bumpers? I would imagine they would kind of spoil the look....

I would be OK with it if it were the bumpers making the marks. I just can't believe they left no marks, and the staples tore up the fender.

i would just pick up one the suction cup pillion pads off if ebay, ive never had a problem with those

Even with the rubber bumpers the solo pillion will rub the fender and screw it up and if you stick the bumpers to the seat it will scratch it where they rub too! There is not a two up seat out there that will not eventually scratch your fender and one reason I went with the rigid mount rack and detachable pillion.
