Wink 02 Wide Glide Fuel Gauge

Is it common for HD bikes to have problems with the fuel gauges?

My husband has a 2002 Wide Glide. Never had any poblems until just the other day. The gas gauge has stopped working. It's always on E now, whether it's full or not.

Can anyone advise us on how to fix it? He would like to know how to remove the gauge, to fix it or does he need to get a new gauge?

I also ride my own. I have a 98 Super Glide and my fual gauge will only read 3/4 when completely full. Then when I hit around a 1/4, my bike acts like it's out of gas and I have to switch to Reserve.

If anyone knows how to fix either one, please let me know ASAP.
Thanks!

There is a connection under the gas tank on the left side in front. It may be disconnected... check there first....it was the problem with my 01 wide glide...but was very simple to fix.
