Default 06 FXDL Sensible Upgrades

Just bought a stock 2006 FXDL with 16K miles. Bike was purchased to be a reliable mile eater not a hot rod. Already got enough bikes needing regular wrenching

Would like some suggestions as to upgrades for air cleaner and pipe as never had a FI HD. Looking for a 2-1 and a nice looking simple air cleaner without spikes etc. On a bit of a budget too if that helps.

Will I need something for the FI after making the changes?

Thanks
Pete

And because we all love pics.

I've been looking at the v&h VO2 naked air cleaner. You can bolt the current AC cover on it to make it look stock. And it's only 150 bucks at j&p.
Everything I've read says you need an EFI tune after upgrading both the AC and exhaust to prevent decel popping. Some say to tune even after upgrading one component. My super glide has a stock AC and short shots exhaust and will pop once in a while.

DK Customs has a nice selection of affordable, understated performance air cleaners. Pipes and tuner, I'd seriously consider a package from Fuel Moto.

Being in Japan might make importing expensive. I understand there is a pretty vibrant Harley scene there, tho. Maybe see if you can find out what and where they are buying? Rough Crafts is in Taiwan. Not exactly local, but maybe a good option?

If want to add Air Flow and More Free Flowing Pipes such as Most 2:1's have would sure think you will want to add an EFI Tuner to keep your A/F Ratio from Getting Too Lean ..

Bassani makes some nice 2 into 1 exhausts for a fairly affordable price. I'm a big Thunderheader fan, but there's no doubt the quality of the Bassani is better. Lots of choices for high flow air cleaners. I have the S&S Stealth and your stock air breather cover would bolt over it. I would definitely go with a tuner. Dynojet Powervision is a great product. I have the Dynojet Power Commander V. It's cheaper and does the job.

Thanks gents - appreciate the feedback and input. Think it will be slip ons and a decent filter, can then pump my spare cash into one of my shovels.

Bassani seems to be really popular as well as thunder header and d&d fat cat. I have the fat cat and absolutely love it. I'll never go to another exhaust. I'm also running the factory heavy breather on my lrs and I don't really like it, but don't want to switch to something that will give me less performance. I really like the look of the se ventilator elite. Anyway if you upgrade ac/exhaust you will definitely be wanting a tuner to add fuel. For this if highly suggest Powervision as that's the only tuner I've used. Just my opinion

What ever you do keep your take offs in case the local LEO don't appreciate the mods.
