Planning a winter engine build in my 06' WG and eventhough I have not had a problem with the IPB (5K miles) yet, I'm considering bitting the bullet and upgrading to the 07' WG parts.
My question is what 07' WG parts do in need besides the Inner Primary Case (going for the chrome one). Also thinking I going to upgrade to the Baker IPB if / when I do this.
You need the inner primary case and trans case IF your bike was made in the regular model year (the vin number and production date will tell you). The first 1/2 production year did not have alignment dowels in the 2 cases. So, some guys have them and some don't. My bike is in the shop right now for the IPB and new cases. I also went ahead and bought the upgraded stator /rotor kit to have them re-asemble with since I had the one with the screws.
Ball park prices on cases are $380 each and the rotor/stator kit is $200 from Zanotti's.
Thanks KBFXDLI, so If I understand what you saying, some of 06' have the alignment dowels between the Inner Primary Case and the Tranny case and therefore should not need the upgrade or have the IPB issues the earlier 06' have???
I to will probably be upgrading (to the 07' style) in stator / rotor as I was planing on upgrading to the SE Compensator when I do my engine build and to put the SE Compensator in the 06' Dynas, you have to change the stator / rotor to the 07' style.
The sticker on the right side front down tube of the frame has the VIM # as well as the production month and year. One of the number in the VIN number also tells you it it was a regular year production or a late year.
Just checked mine and unfurtunately its a reqular year production so I probably going to bit the bullet and change the cases when I do my enging build, unless it craps out before and I can get the MoCo to warranty, but I not holding my breath.
