widest tire for a 2001 Dyna?

I have a 2001 FXDP with the run-flats that are just about done. I searched here for anything that might relate to the widest or meatiest tire I can put on this bike. I believe the stock size is a 130/90 or so, but it's on the tire as MT or MU...cannot recall just now. Has anyone done anything wider like a 140/90 or 150/80? I see that these sizes are available. Can you let me know what will work? Thanks!

My '04 WG runs a 150 rear. I don't think there's anything different in the swingarm between your bike and mine, so I think you should be able to get a 150 in there w/o a problem.

I have an 02 dyna, in 2002 they stasrted using 150 tires, prior to that they use the 130, the difference is in the fender width, i bought a fender from an 01 and it was actually a 1/2 narower. so be carefull and measure for clearance

You can try using T-nuts from Lowe's on the inside of your fender and shorter bolts. You should pick up 3/8"-1/2"more on the inside of your fender.Be sure to check for belt clearance also.Check my album "deuce wheel"For pic's it may help.

Yes. I put my old street bob wheel with 160 on my brothers 2005 fxdx and it fits. Only thing I had to change was bearings to 3/4. It's a 17" rim too. Don't know if you could fit a 160 to the 3.5 rim.

On your 2001, without any modification you can likely only go with a 140. Since I converted from a belt to a chain I can just squeeze a 150 in but it's tight. I'm riding on the Avon Venoms (widths vary from one manufacturer to another) and the rear fills up the fender and looks good.

If you want to go bigger 180 or 200+ that would require some serious mods.

ok i think im pretty sure 130 came on a sporty that yr. Also you need to change the pulley to a o2 to 06 . Also you need the 1 1/8 belt your bike may have the 1 1/2 you can go with the 150 i think you already have a 150 140 tires came on the 99 dyna. Anyway just go with the 180 or 160 it will work i just did it i used a 1in pulley from a 07 dyna and a 180 wheel from a 03 duece good luck you need a 1in belt for this set up. Ps look for a fender too dm cycles makes one. cant be 100% but i think the 01 came with a 150 if not yuo have to get the pulley and belt, so i your doing it anyway go to 180.
