Wider front tire question?
Ok here is my deal. I have a metzeler 90-21 on my bike now and want to go wider. I have a 2 1/4 inche wheel on the front. What is the biggest tire i can run. I have been looking at the 80/90-21 dunlop because it LOOKS wider than what i have now. The tire i have now just looks way to LOW profile.
I was also wondering does anyone make a 100 or a 110 tire for the 21. Lastly do you think i could ever get a 120/70-21 to ever seat up? Thanks guys J.P. |
Anyone have any ideas?

Avon sells a tire; Roadrider AM26. It is the widest tire I could find
for my 21 incher on my '10 Wide Glide. It is 3.9 inches, supposed to fit a 2.15 inch wheel. I will be trying one when the one I have now wears out. Check out avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcycle/roadrider |
AVON 90/90-21. Avon tires are wider than metzeler a little bit are are very sticky too. You might be able to do a 120, but, it is normally not recommended without a wider rim.

See the second quote below by "El Chiguete". Avon now has another 21" tire available with a 3.90" width.

I also wanted the widest tire that would fit the 21" Wide Glide wheel that I put on my bike. I looked at all the tire manufactures recommended fitments and 90/90 was the widest for the stock rim width. I then looked at all the tire manufactures measured tire widths and Avon's Venom 90/90B-21 (AV318) was the widest.

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/paul-s/004-5.jpg I can see where you would want a larger tire, I like my 150 up front with a 200 rear, It handles great and feels more stable. Those skinny tires scare me on a 700lb bike.

Paul - part of what makes that 150 feel better is the fact it's a balloon tire ... you're sporting a 16" rim (not 21") ...;)
I like the feel of the balloon tire over the 'pizza cutter' myself ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...8-gedc0436.jpg Rode over a couple of bridge gratings yesterday ... reminded me of how much more I like the wide tire .... R/ 'Chop |
