Auto Canceling Turn Signal Question

Auto Canceling Turn Signal Question
I bought my 99 FSDWG about two months ago. The previous owner decided to not re-install the front turn signals after he installed the ape hangers.
As I rode it, I tried to use the turn signals so at least the cars behind me knew I was about to turn. The turn signals would not flash (I expected that without the front lamps) but I did notice if I left the turn signal on, it would auto cancel.
I just installed some new turn signals on the front and now the front and rear flash as they are suppose to but the auto cancel will not work. I have to manually turn them off.
Any ideas what may be the problem?
I do not know what triggers the auto cancel or if it is just a timer type deal
For what ever reason it has quit working. If I disconnect the front lights, it will auto cancel again.
The wires are hooked up by color code, Purple, Blue and Black ( or Brown, I cant remember)
any help is appreciated
Thanks!

I found my answer. I had a fairly generic service manual I bought on line.
It appears that the bike must be moving for the control unit to measure the distance traveled and signal it to end.
I was testing it in the garage without moving it and I was riding when the auto cancel was working
Thanks
1. When the left turn signal switch is pressed, a momentary
12 VDC pulse is sent to Pin No. 8 (input)
on the TSM module. The module responds to this
signal by sending a series of 12 VDC pulses to Pin
No. 4 (output) to flash the left front and rear turn
signal lamps.
2. The TSM module then monitors the number of
vehicle speed sensor pulses sent from the speedometer
sending unit to Pin No. 3. These pulses indicate
the distance the motorcycle has traveled.
When the number of speedometer pulses is equal
to the quantity preset in the module program, the
turn signal is canceled.

Glad you got it all worked out.
I have a 99 and the auto cancel only works when the outside air temp is above about 80 and the bike is warmed up. I have no idea why it only works "hot". I have just gotten used to turning them off manually. However, when it is hot out, I actually end up turning it back on.
I figure the module is bad.
