Help! will the Avon 180 tire fit my 2009 FXDC?
I am making my first tire replacement on my 2009 Dyna Glide Custom. I only got 4K on my first tire. I wanted to replace with a 180 tire to fill in the rear fender. Has any put the Avon Storm 180/55/R17 on their stock spoke rim? or do you have another brand suggestion. I called the stealer for the Screamin Eagle 180 which is $309 in SoCal. Will a 55 fit or do I have to go with 60?

will a 180 fit in your rear fender? yes absolutely.... HOWEVER, it will NOT fit with the stock final drive belt. it has to be replaced. the kit harley sells seems like a great deal if you can install it yourself that is. the kit even comes with a 180 in the kit. but without going to the slimmer drivebelt i wouldnt do it. as soon as that belt starts to frey on the edge... its only a matter of time before it rips like paper.

A thinner drive belt is not needed to fit a 180 on a '06 and later Dyna. The kit Harley sells only comes with the SE 180 tire and some fender strut brackets that aren't needed. The main problem is the stock wheel is 4.5" wide which is not wide enough for a standard 180 tire. The only tires available that are designed for a 4.5" width rim are the SE 180 and the Pirelli Night Dragon. All others will need a 5.5" width rim. I'm running an 18x5.5 with a Metzler 180 with no other mods to make it fit.

Not much to the brackets either. Instead of your wires coming out of the old brackets as they do, the new brackets basically bends your wire 90 degrees and feeds them out of the back center of the bracket so they do not stick above the bracket. I'm having the kit installed right now, the clearance from tire edge to fender is tight though...can't get a finger in there. Looks sick though.

I currently have the SE. 180 installed on my 06 Bob without the wide tire kit. Most Harley dealerships will not do the install if you don't buy the kit.At the time I had all my wiring ran outside the fenders so they went ahead and did it but now I have the stock wiring and it works fine. What you can do is just take the wheel in by itself and they will do the install.I also cleaned the inside of my fender real good and taped my wires to the inside of the fender with aluminum duct tape.

180 Tire
You need to do the light relocation back to the tail light, I have had Mech and Dunlop 180's on my 08 FXDC with no problem. Make sure that your wiring for your rear lights is securely up in the fender. Other wise your tire will burn them in two. I have also been using the balancing beads, but that is a whole nother subject.
