Default Anyone else using 30w fork oil on a Dyna?

Just replaced my fork oil with Bel-Ray 30w (used exact factory specified amount), haven't had a chance to try out yet because of the F'ed up weather., What can I expect? less braking dive and stiffer ride?, I noticed most here on the forum are using 10-15w? but have heard some prefer the 30w, Is it just personal preference or can the heavier 30w be detrimental?

I have used it on my WG since 99 and love it...but I'm not a litte guy either. It was great for two up too... I change it every 10k miles and if they don't have it in, I use the 20weight in a pinch.

Please read my posts explaining why you should not do what you are doing as far as this thick of oil. I also covered how to achieve what you are trying to do as far as making that system work somewhat better. Never great but better. You are well on your way to make your bike much more uncomfortable than you presently have already. I do not sell what you need for tat stuff but I freely giver the knowledge on how to make it work. Just use your effort to search and find it on this great site.

Thicker oil will flow a little slower thru the holes. Could make the front less responsive than you like. It's a cheap fix to needing heavier springs. Only you can decide if the trade offs are worth it.

I'd say that's not a good idea too. The stock is about 5W so you are going much thicker. Result will be an unresponsive front end that will have a lot of jarring. You may find the front end skitters when going over bumps, it could lead to an uncomfortable and potentially dangerous ride.

I tried 15w and ended up changing to 10w to get a little ride quality back. The best way really seems to be respringing and valveing the front end. However I was doing it on the cheap so I changed oil and now I know that it doesnt really help that much.

front spings aren't that expensive,
I used Works triple rate springs. Well worth it in the ride quality.
I use 10 wt Amsoil Shocktheraphy fork oil.
