I think I am finally used to my Dyna.....

When I started out at the break-in it was nothing over 50mph 3000 rpm then all the oil changes then break-in & Stage1 and dyno tune...now I'm going 4000 rpm everywhere.....and I look down and I'm going through town at 65 mph and it hardly seems like I'm moving........hit the freeway 75-80 cruise........like it's on idle..........is it big bore time already???

Am I crazy????[sm=biker.gif]

No you're not crazy.

It is called the comfort/confidence of the Dyna chassis I think.

I hadn't street ridden in 14 years, got my bike 4 weeks ago. Same problem as you now...

I get on the e-way and look down in 5th and go "Holy S***, slow down dumba$$!!!" to myself. It doesn't feel like 85mph at all, and the problem is it gets there to easy IMO. And I used to ride metrics that were much faster in the 1/4. but not as confident building at speeds. I pretty much don't use 6th gear. Bike isn't smooth in 6th until over 75mph, so I run 5th at 70mph in the granny lane during rush hour...much safer around Detroit!

So I know check myself and have simmered down. But darn it if 6000 RPM doesn't zip up RIGHT NOW in 1st gear with only 3/4 throttle. I am genuinely impressed by this bike. And I have ridden plenty of stuff much faster, but no where near as much fun with SOOOOOO MUCH TORQUE!

Just don't try to corner it like a Metric...YIKES! Cruiser means just that.

My Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 handled the twisties good, but my FXD was born and bred for the twisties [8D]

Beagle1, You have some nice looking accessories on your bike.

These bikes are too much fun and it is easy to not realize just how fast you are going sometimes. Although I do feel more comfortable with my bike each day, I still have not gotten comfortable with some of the stupid s#!@ that some of the cagers try to pull, so on the rural roads I tend to keep it cool and on the interstates just stay with traffic.

I have gotten so comfortable with my Street Bob that I rubbed the lower exhaust pipe the other day.....I was so mad, but glad that I was just leaning and gassing it in a parking lot. It scuffed it a little but no really that bad.

Difference in the Dyna's I think. The DWG with it's rake is a little squirrely to me on hard corners, I feel like it wants to stand up or rear steer. Might be that missing link some talk about (True Trak I think it's called).

But highway stability even in a hard cross wind is the best I have experienced, from a Yamaha 400 to a Gold Wing...and various inbetweens, this is the best I have felt on the Highway.

Seat Add On Part #? "I do...November 1997". Thanks for asking! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I have to agree about the highway cruising. I've owned lots of supposedly more powerful bikes but none can begin to compare with this Dyna. It cruises at 85 and wants to go faster. Tracks like it's supposed to and and no surprises. I switched with my friend for about 50 miles, he has a 2003 Honda Valkyrie. He can keep his Valkyrie. Top heavy and always feels like it's at redline. Smooth bike though, just not for high speed cruising. BTW I'm not a bike snob, I have owned many different brands from custom to Jap. Think I'll keep this bike for a while.
