I am running 12.5 inch and single rate. When I bought mine you could only get 12 in single rate spring. I think the shocks need to be 13 or above to run dual rates. For shocks with this little amount of travel they are 100x better than the progressives I had previously, the 412's. Never rode any of the higher end progressive shocks so I am not sure how they would compare.

Hopefully this isn't a hijack.

If Works shocks are supposed to be bought for your weight, how does that work out for someone who occasionally rides 2-up?

it doesnt, you have to pick one or the other if you want shocks that are "perfectly" tuned for you.

Just seems like you're limiting yourself a bit by trying to dial in your suspension that precisely. Don't ever gain weight or try touring with it...

It does not work that way. they will be tuned to ride best with your weight and then you simply add preload to adjust for your passenger or touring load. If you ride mostly two up then they will tune them more for that weight. if your say 180 lbs and grow to 200 the spring and internals will still run right for your weight. If you drop to 160 they will still be great. The thing is getting the right spring and internals for around your weight, vs riding on a shock sprung for a 180 lb rider when you weigh 250 or something along those lines. I have Ohlins and Ricors designed for my weight. They also ask my passengers weight when ordering as well. The 2up ride is a touch softer when the preload is turned out to maintain ride height with the additional weight.

Also if you do go on a binge and get fat as hell or start dating a chunky chick they will rebuild your shocks for a small fee.
