2001 switchblade leaks and tensioners check
Since my 2001 Switchblade was getting close to 30,000 miles, I took the bike in to get the cam chain tensioners checked. I bought the earlier in the summer from a local harley dealer. The previous owner didn’t have any service records, so I didn’t know what had been done to the bike. In addition to checking tensioners, there was a leak in primary and a leak in shift shaft seal. I picked it up today and there a few interesting things they found. The leak in primary was caused a missing bolt. Guess it’s partially my fault for not noticing, but figured dealership would have seen it. The shift shaft seal was leaking because the previous owner tried to replace seal, couldn’t, so tried to silicone it. The biggest surprise tho was when they checked the tensioners, turns out the previous owner replaced cam chain tensioners with gear driven cams. Nice to have that piece of mind now, but sure would have been nice to know. Anyway, sorry for long post.
