Wide Glide Crash Bars?
would that look funny on one?
I would like to put something on it but think it may look out of place I have been searching for maybe a straight bar with something like pegs on it instead of the big loop. I seem to recall something like that with pointed pegs on the end of the bar Anyone have pictures of a Wide Glide with crash bars? Thanks |
IMO engine guards look fine... What you describe might look more funny and out of place. Did you try google'ing for a pic?

From what I can tell, the Wide Glide bars are a little different than other dynas because of the forward controls. I'd also like to see some pictures of Wide Glides with crash bars since I'm shopping for one now.

I believe I just found something that I like. I should have searched for a mustache bar
Here are a couple pics and a link http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/565...e-Mustache-Bar |
So, it seems the mustache bar provides extra places for the feet, but does it provide any protection like the highway bars/engine guards/crash guards?
|
I would think so but since I am a relative newbie to Harley, it would be good if anyone has any experience dropping a bike ( moving or standing still) that had a mustache bar on it and did it help prevent any damage
I am also more interested in the bike not pinning my leg if I go down |
This one looks good. Anyone know which engine guard this is?

It looks like the one from Harley. You did not mention what year your bike was. I have an 04 Wide Glide and put a mustache bar on it. It was the goofiest thing I've ever seen (my personal opinion there). I have attached a picture of my husband's '10 wide glide with an engine guard on it. He absolutely will not put anything on his bike that doesn't pass his "standard of cool test." I like the way the engine guard's look, they also provide vital protection to the most important part of your bike. I would have one on my bike too, but I've been bucking for a new seat, so I got the seat instead. Besides, not sure I could reach the highway pegs on the engine guard anyhow. If you are still interested in the mustache bar, I have a friend who has one for sale. Brand new and fits all Dyna's between the years of 1991-'11

I used to have one with landing lights on my Lowrider. At night, I could light up a 4 lane highway with ease. Actually liked it at first, then decided to take off, and am now glad I did. Much more streamlined and longer looking bike without it, where it used to look like a cross between a sport cruiser and the couch with wheels. Whatever turns you on I suppose. At least your leg won't get crushed if you dump it.

I have the Linbdy Multi bar on my WG. I once saw a guy pulling off the highway into a gas station when he hit some gravel and down went his bike and it slid for about 25 yards. After checking on him I just new his bike was going to be all banged up. I could not beleive it when we got her up. It was only scratched on the edge of the Guard bar and the back turn signal. I got one for that reason and it gives you a place to streach out your legs on longer rides. Heres a few pictures of mine.
