Street Bob Tire Dilema. Need HELP!

i bought a 2011 street bob. First thing on my list was to run wide white walls, problem is, they have a funky size 17" rim for the rear, and nobody makes one. My idea, and will it work? My old man has a new 2011 road king classic that runs a d407 180/65b16 wide white wall tire on the rear. The rim is 16"X5". They make a d401 100/90-19 wide white wall for the front. One of my problems is solved, I can run matching dunlop wide white wall tires if I switch to the road king classic rear tire size. Also, will the 180 fit ok on the street bob? The stock size is a 160. My plan is to buy a 16"X5" rim, powdercoat black, purchase 40 stainless steel spokes, and lace to a 2011 street bob hub, perfectly matching the front rim. My question, will it work? will it bolt right up? or am I getting myself into a huge mess? need input, i appreciate it!

If this will work, does someone have the part number for the 11' street bob hub? thanks.

41053-02. Pretty sure thats it but I would call a dealer to be sure.

Im doing something similar to an 09 Street Bob, but instead of lacing the stock hub to a new rim, I bought a 2009 16" FXDF FatBob rear wheel, had it powder coated black.. also to mount a 180-16 Metzler tire on it.

Yes the 17" rear issue, If I was to do it again I would run a 17" front and rear or a 18" front and rear. I know there are some 17" fronts in WW but I haven't looked into the 18's. Also I kind of dig only having the white wall up front but that is just me. The tires I am running now are discontinued so maybe I will change something up when they start to wear down.

Ive been looking all day for rims. I can't find anything newer than a 2005. Does anyone know where i can pick up a 09' fat bob real wheel, 40 spoke?

also, does anyone know a part number for the hub i need and the spokes that will match my front wheel?

I laced the original Street Bob hub (2008) to a 2010 Roadking rear rim, 16x5. It works just fine. I even reused the 17 inch Dyna spokes by cutting off about 3 threads from each one. I then used the 180 Dunlop touring tire WWW. More pictures in my album.

Ok. I have the 16X5 rim coming and the harley spokes for my bike. The salesman said the spokes out of the rear are for a 16-17 inch tire so i just ordered another set, I am surprised he actually had a part number for the exact spokes. I dont want to disassemble the stock rim. Do you guys happen to know a hub that i can run on that? No harley dealer is showing a hub part number for the rear on that 2011 street bob. Is there an early hub that is the exact same as the one that's currently on it?

I used the original hub from my bike because after researching the 17 inch Dyna rear wheels on eBay, they are worth nothing to a few pennies more than nothing. It is not worth your effort to save and sell. Just rip it apart and start lacing the new one up. I can't remember exactly, but I am pretty sure I had to remove the 3 threads from each spoke otherwise they were a little too long.

Also, reusing your hub takes away the hassle of 25mm bearings to purchase and install. After a few practice attempts, I was able to lace a 16 inch wheel in 9 minutes having never done it before. Following the manual, I was also able to true the wheels by mounting them on the bike and using the bike as my truing stand. My tire installer declared them perfect.
