Default Is this where I add primary oil??? **pic included*

is changing my primary oil as simple as draining through the plug and then removing this cover (black arrow on pic) and filling to the bottom of clutch spring....I was told to remove the primary inspection cover and fill but, when I look up pictures of a primary inspection cover online, the pics show the little plate that covers where my old shifter used to be before I put on forwards.....Thanks in advance for any opinions.

A manual is a cheap investment.

You may need to stand the bike upright to get the full amount advised into the primary. When I service mine I put a 2 X 4 under the kickstand (or put the bike on the J&S jack), otherwise the fluid level isn't accurate.

Since you have the removable oval plate, it's a lot easier to pour in through that hole, and you don't have to worry about the bike being upright to put 1 qt in.

Default I put mine in there too...

And you can get he quart in without doing a thing but taking the derby cover off.

P.S. And a repair manual is worth it.
