Switchback: Cycle World's First ride

Spoiler alert:

Cycle World likes it - and provides background on some of the design decisions.

Thanks for the link. A decent article.

I saw one the other day at my local dealer, and I'm not sure about it yet..... Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Guess it doesn't matter, not in the market for a new bike anyway.

Good read. I think the Switchback is going to be a lot more popular than some people think it will.

Great article, thanks. I can't wait to check one out.

Cool

Pretty cool -- looks like a miniature road king to me. Would be perfect for the wife when the time comes....

I can't wait to see and ride one but it may be worth noting that it is about the same weight and same hp/cu inch as the origional Electra Glide.....so while it's "light" by todays standards; it's in roughly the same shape it was in 1965.....

But in 1965, their biggest motor was a 74" (1200 cc) and it made no where near the hp/tq that the 103 does. The 1965 panhead motor in the FLH bikes made 60 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 65 pound-feet of torque.

bought one last saturday and it's still getting fitted w/add ons. found out V&H don't have pipes for it yet so I had to go with the SE slip on. still too high for the ol so I'm going w/the 412's 11". Not sure how that'll effect the ride. Went ahead with the speedo/tach combo also.

The slip-on I saw on the site looks like it's made by Supertrapp, which would be a good one.

You ought to be able to sell the take-off shocks easily, as they are supposed to be higher quality than typical stock shocks (but lower), plus they have a nice clean look.
