Default getting used to the Dyna

Just when the 11's came out last year, I got a 10 Dyna Super Glide. I went in to see about an 11 Street Bob. The dealer said that since the Super Glide was discontinued for 11, he would sell the 10 to me for a total of $1,500 off the out the door price.

I went for it thinking that the reduction would cover the cost of mini apes and cables. Then it would look like a Street Bob and I do favor the mags over laced wheels anyway.

I ran it a lot and got the 1K done which was thrown in by the dealer on the deal. It seemed to ride like a hard tail.

There is one sharp right hand corner returning to my house and the Dyna would scrape the brace that supports the muffler. It seemed like it was not that aggressive of a turn and I felt the bike shouldn't scape. None of the other rides that I have do.

I watched the forum and was considering Ohlin's or Progressive shocks.

Since I finished my touring this year, I decided to put another 1K on the bike before I did anything with it.

I could tell that it was becoming a little more compliant on the road. When I looked at the shocks, I saw that they were on the first position. I am 230 lbs and decided to try the third setting.

On the next rides I found that the bike felt more balanced between the front and rear when hitting bumps. It would go around the sharp right hand corner without scraping.

I am feeling better about the bike now. I thought that I made a purchase without knowing about the bike. I guess that I am finally "bonding" with it.

The thing flys with the Stage 1 breather and the Cobra Fi2000r programer.

I think that it still would be a better bike with different shocks still. But not as necessary as I originally believed.

A good set of rear shocks makes the biggest difference in the world. I got sway a way 12.5" on my bike rides 100x better than the stock shocks.

You can also increase preload in the front forks by adding longer spacers in the forks. You can use 1 1/4 PVC pipe for this Donita not expensive at all. With your weight all you would need is about 1/2 inch longer spacer. Since the front springs are progressively wound doing this will firm up the front end. If you notice now when you brake or even shift there is some front end dive. Adding the spacers will eliminate that yet not be too stiff while going over bumps.

DCLX26 - Thanks for the info. That sounds like it would work for me.
