Does Xied's void HD warranty?

I would like to get Xied's for my 2011 Super Glide but I don't want to void the warranty. I had Screaming Eagle slips installed at the dealer when I bought the bike. Does adding Xied's void the 2 year HD warranty?

Not unless the dealer can prove that the XIEDS caused the particular problem. Nice thing about the XIEDS is that they are a snap to remove before you take the bike in.

Dont tell the dealer you put them on if you take it in, and take them off before you take it in. A tech having a bad day will tell you putting a license plate frame on will burn up you're tranny or some stupid a$$ s^&t. Then its you're word against theirs.....you lose.

Legal answer: No, due to the Magnusson Moss act, the dealer would have to PROVE that the Xieds *caused* the damage to the bike.

Practical answer: If they see them, I'm pretty sure that 80% of the service departments in the country will tell you that you voided your warranty, and then you will have to appeal to the MoCo and it will be a long and headache inducing process.

Take them off before you drop the bike off for service.

If you put them on your bike shouldn't break so you won't have a warranty claim anyways

But as mentioned above since they go on easy, they come off easy so remove before dealership gets bike and you are safe

When I was running the XIEDs I had to bring it to the dealer for warranty work so I pulled them off. Not worth having to deal with any of the BS they might dream up to blame me for a problem.

The Xied instructions say it will throw 2 lean codes. Isn't that storred in the computer? My service department manager also said they may make the engine light come on because of a lean condition. I did not ask them about the warranty issue for obvious reasons.

I talked to nightrider personally about that, and he said those lean codes get thrown all the time on the bike anyway, and there is NO reason for a dealer to suspect that those lean codes are the result of any tinkering.

Remember that the MoCo tunes these bikes to run on the bleeding edge of detonation in closed loop mode due to EPA's stranglehold on emissions.
