1980 FLT front fairing; frame HELP
HI! HELP...
Hubby was going to restore this 1980 FLT. Had it in pieces. Took the engine and tanks off and put the frame outside.
Irene can through and dropped a 90' oak on the front end.
Insurance adjuster is coming TUESDAY and I need some idea of what the front fairing and what the front frame would cost to replace IF one could find them.

Odd are the adjuster will look into it and make an offer for a settlement. The best you could do is find the person in your area that would fix an older bike and get an estimate of the repairs in order to know if the payoff is correct.
Gonna be hard to get replacement cost on a "vintage" bike, many items will not be replaceable with new parts, so you'd have to go shopping for parts and availability.
Odds are it's your home owners that would cover this so it's anybody's guess how you'll get it to work out.
Hope the rest of your property fared better with the storm?

Thanks, 86'er.. debatable if they'll cover anything as homeowners doesn't cover anything that can 'go on the road'. Adjustor's not going to have a clue about value. I'm just trying to find a rough estimate on the "IF I could find the parts..."
If we can get anything out of the insurance, it would really help.
Yup! we were very lucky. didn't hit the house (missed by about 8 feet) but took out the pool. Was $6,500 to get the tree out. I tried loading a pic, of the tree/bike combo, but it didn't seem to work.

www.shovelhead.us is the end all forum concerning Shovelheads. Pop over there. They can give you ideas, prices, availability and resources concerning Shovels. Just remember, rubber mounted Shovels are the red headed stepchild of the Harley line. They are rare and generally not very popular. Parts ARE available, but costly.
