Rush Slip On's
Put a new set of Rush Tip Compatible Slip-Ons on my '11 Fat Bob.:icon_dance-cpatch:
Love the deeper tone, but wish it wasn't as loud. Do you think switching from 2.25" to 2.00" baffles will bring down the volume? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgw1yZJa_-A Will take detailed pictures soon...Too busy riding.:icon_bike: Enjoy, Rudy046 |
It will tone it down a bit. I run 1.75 and it is loud enough for me.
|
It will but very slight. I ran rush slipons with 2" baffle and 1.75 baffle. Very slight difference. If you bought the pipes new, call rush and ask about a baffle swap. I have read somewhere that someone did that. RUsh is a member here.

i like the sound of them but i dont see how they are too loud. the garage most definitely amplified the sound.

Theoretically every step smaller will bring down the sound some but I believe you'd need to go down to 1.75's from 2.25's for the change to be noticeable. I like a loud bike and I run 1.75's; they're plenty loud, believe me.
I'm the guy who often posts that Rush offered me a baffle swap free if I didn't like the 1.75's, but it wasn't necessary. They seem to really be good guys. They told me to stay away from the 1.50's because of some weird chirping artifact in the sound. |
I ran the 2.0s on mine for a season. I thought the sound was pretty good for just slip ons but have to agree they weren't that loud noise wise as annapolis said. Sounded real good when you jumped on it though. I ended up putting black V&H 2-2 big radius on, now that made it loud. I liked them and it seemed to me the more they broke in the louder they got.

Rush baffles
HI THERE,
In relation to Rush slip ons and baffles. I have emailed Rush about changing baffles and the loudness etc of them. They have been really good and have excellent communication about there products. The have informed me that each baffle size down will reduce the sound level by about 4db, which you would notice. They have adviced me that 1.75 and 2.00 are good baffle sizes for tone and level of sound for the fat bob. I just need to get some Slip ons now, as they are very expensive here in the UK. Hope that helps, regards Jonno |

I had 2" Rush Straight Cut slip-ons on my '06 Street Bob since new until this year. They are probably slightly quieter than your 2.25" baffles but they'll still seem loud in an enclosed area. Compared to most aftermarket pipes I'd rate the Rush 2" baffles 6 / 10 in terms of loudness when new. Definitely 10 / 10 in terms of sound. My Rush pipes had a nice, deep, throaty rumble compared to the raspy sound of my buddies pipes. And better performance to go along with that sound than most full pipe systems IMO.
My Rush slip-ons did seem to get a little louder over time - tho not overly loud. The increase was probably from the muffler insulation wrap started to break down. I never bothered to replace it tho Rush sells replacement wrap on their web site. I'm running a blacked out V&H Pro Pipe HO now which has an even deeper tho slightly quieter sound than my Rush slip-ons. Even so I'm still a big fan of Rush slip-ons. |
