Take a look at the way the rear passenger mounts are on the Dyna. They mount to the swing arm and every bump is transmitted right into the passenger's feet. So if you are going to do long rides with a passenger I would go with the RK.

I went from a 2003 FXD to a 1996 FLHR and the swiftly back to my current 2007 FXDB.

Personally, I prefer the looks, styling and handling of the dyna over the Road King.

I found I was riding the Road King like my granddad, taking it nice and steady, basically not having any fun on it!

The clincher for me was that I ride two up a lot and I found I actually had MORE room on the Dyna than the Road King!!

I'm a big bloke (6'6", 350lbs) and the forwards are further forward compared to the Road Kings floorboards and I had to take the sissy bar pad off the road king to fit me and my other half (who is slim) on it.

Sounds weird but we both found the Dyna much more comfortable two up...

When you look at a Road King for handling, the 09 and 10 models set a new standard with their new frame, especially the 2010 and later with its steeper steering angle.

I had both an 06 5 speed and then a 07 RK with the 6-speed trans. I sold it last year in anticipation of buying a new 2011 RK. I was very turned-off by the color selctions for 2011 (and 2012 now) so I did not buy a RK. Rather, I picked up a Super Glide in the pretty metallic red color. Im converting it to my style but Ive put about 6000 miles on it so far, some of which are on longer 1500-mile-ish trips.

I have really come to like the Super Glide. It is noticably lighter and more maneuverable than the Road King. My riding preference is more in the sport touring style. Rather than install ape hangers and lower the suspension, I install low bars and jack up the suspension. The Super Glide will handle curvy roads better than most people would guess. I like it. Im spending money on it. I plan to keep it.

Having said all of that, the Super Glide is no where near as comfortable for long distance road running as the Road King. The RK was superbly smooth and plodded along effortlessly for mile after mile. If you plan to carry a passenger, the Super Glide, again, is bested by the Road King.

It all gets down to what you wanna do. If you ride mostly one-up and want a smaller bike with it's more nimble handling, the Dyna is the way to go. If you do a lot of two-up riding and want supreme road comfort that will also yield amazing handling for it's size, there is nothing like a Road King. Hey, that's why Harley-D calls that platform the "Touring Series," duh !
