Metzeler were bought by Pirelli a couple of years ago and a chunk of manufacturing was shifted to their factory in Brazil. This turned out to be a mistake as the quality of the first batches was low. This was fixed fairly quickly though and the quality has been back to normal for a long time now.

Of course, Avons are English-made and so of the finest quality and highly recommended.

Some folks say it's not good to mix a "B" tire with a "R" but I'm not tryin' to get every ounce of cornering performance out of my bike. I've been running Metz. ME880's for a few years now.

The key to getting rid of that butt wiggle "road snakes" in that "R" on the back.

Try a ME880 170-VR60-17 or any other Radial on the back for that matter, and you'll be pleasantly suprised the first time you hit a "road snake"...... it has gone away...

Best wishes....Tim(HD)

What kind of milage are you guys getting on the M880's? I only get about 7K on the rear of my BMW. Have the DL on the HD and at 6K still looks good.

I just put on the R radial on the back and did a great day of cruising yesterday and feels real grippy.
Cornering feels allot better than the Dunlop.
I used a radial tube for the first time.
It is huge so it's best to use a size smaller width to fit well in the tire. No folds.
I've never seen such a heavy duty tube. Purchased on Ebay. It makes the Pirelli heavy duy tube look like a kids ballon.
The radial tube is for wire spoked rims.
Nice lower profile brings the bike back to stock hieght as the longer shocks had risen it a bit.
I haven't experienced any snake action yet but I will keep it in mind.
I replaced the brakes and installed new allballs bearings in the rear at the same time. One bearing was way too tight to turn.
Riding in the rain allot probibly has allot to do with that. At almost 8K miles.
Passes all test with last nights ride. Fun fun.

Just remember that they require higher pressure (43-44) that the stock rear donlop. Checking them often will extend their life and keep the performance feeling great.

Is it me, or does the speedometer seem to be off about 10mph?
