Memphis Shades Mounting solution
I don't post so much but wanted to share the mounting of my memphis shades fairing. It is second hand from my dad and is the Heritage solution. I ran into two problems with this, first was mounting, the second was the big gap between the headlight and fairing.
To mount the fairing, I found a set of 49mm quick release clamps on ebay that included the windshield brackets. I didn't need the brackets, but there were the cheapest clamps I found. I intended to copy the write ups I had seen on the forum and mount the fairing but when I looked at the windshield brackets it occured to me that they might make my job easier.

I mounted the brackets on the frame and tried attaching them to the bike, interestingly enough, they fit right off the bat. The only issue I needed to resolve was the bolt pattern on the frame didn't match the fairing. In order to fix this, I sawed off the top mounting bolt and made a small steel plate to bolt the fairing and frame to, this worked like a glove.

Since this is a cold weather, cross country ride solution, I don't really want to change to a 7" headlight but it is an option. I chose to fill in the gap with a metal band I found at Menards. I folded the corners and painted it black and it works well but has a little rattle. I am going to find a similar piece of plastic sheet to fill in this space.

Well, I rambled enough, thought this was a cool observation and thought it might help someone else down the road.
Keep riding,
Al
