+1 gravel roads everywhere here in MT. Not just pea gravel either , some pretty sizeable rocks in there. I love the look of no belt guard but with road conditions here I wouldn't be without one. If you never see any bad roads in your neck of the woods you won't have to worry too much about it. Your call here.

Yes. I was running 12 inch air shocks at the time. I am now rumming 12 inch heavy duty 440s. No issues since.

I would think the most important guard would be the lower plastic guard. Debris intrusion on the lower run of the belt would seem a more likely problem than intrusion along the top run. In fact, the bagger touring models do not have the upper guard ( I think) but they do have the lower.
