Prescription Transition Riding Glasses

I had my eye doc order me a pair of Ray Bans (similar to the classic Wayfarer frames) with my Rx with transition, anti-glare and some fancy scratch and shatter-proof lenses. They don't have any foam but the size, shape, and tilt angle of the glasses keep the wind and debis out of my eyes really well and I'm going on two years of riding in them with no problems. Plus, I wear them all the time on and off the bike as my normal glasses. With my insurance discount, they only cost about $150 with all the lens "upgrades".

I've been shopping for a set for awhile now and settled on the Liberty Sport Pursuit. I have regular transition lenses in my everyday progressive glasses but they don't get very dark. Eye doc set me up with a stage 2 transition lens that will hold a little more tint when inside, but go full on sunglasses in the daylight. As I'm willing to show below, I don't need help looking like a dork. When clear they're a little dorky, but not quite fanny pack dorky. 70+ mph isn't a problem and I can look down at the gauges or to my sides with no problem. When I stop it's easy to read the menu. I had a hard time with the WileyX foam seal. My eyebrows would get locked above or below the seal. I blame my distorted head shape more than the glasses. These have a magnetic plastic pad on the outer edge of the lens that lets venting past between the pad and lens but stops the wind from blowing around the sides.

I got a couple pairs of wiley X's from these guys http://www.adseyewear.com - if you want dark, get the transitions XtrActive lens. They get way darker then the reg transitions, but are only avail in grey. They also have a *slight* tint when not activated, but nothing that impedes night riding whatsoever. They are much darker and are perfect on the brightest days...
I also have coke bottle perscriptions, and they offer something called lenticular lenses, which are good for wrap around frames which high perscriptions wouldn't fit in. Check them out on their site. The frames I got are the WX gravity's that have an insert for higher power lenses. They don't cut off the field of view much at all. Very comfortable. I don't use the foam seal, as they seal plenty good enough w/o it, and you get a better field of view with the lenses closer to your face...

Have you tried putting them in the freezer? Sounds funny but it works. Was recommended to me by someone who works in an optometrists office. Toss them in the freezer and grab some ice cream while you are there. I usually leave mine in over night, but I'm not sure how long is really necessary. It recharges the transition effect.
